Paolo Veronese (Caliari) (1528 - 1588)
He was born in Verona, and hence known as Veronese, after moving to Venice in 1553 and becoming a major figure in Venetian art. He was known for his elaborate scenes and careful perspective. He was a powerful influence on such later artists as Tiepolo.
